Rabies Exposure

Bats are the only known reservoir of rabies in BC. Outside of BC, wild and domestic animals may harbor rabies, and rabies post-exposure prophylaxis should be considered on an indiviudal basis. Rabies exposures are managed by the public health unit in the area where the client resides (Regional CD team will follow-up for Vancouver only). Every potential exposure to rabies requires review with an MHO.
