Malaria is a vector-borne disease spread by the Anopheles species of mosquito. Collect detailed travel history from the case to determine if infection is travel-acquired. If there is no travel history, assess for risk of transfusion transmissible infection (TTI). Every case of malaria requires MHO notification.
