Hepatitis C Virus

Public Health follow-up of hepatitis C laboratory reports is to determine acute versus chronic cases. Passive follow-up is completed for new non-acute hepatitis C cases, or historic cases seeking additional follow-up.  The majority of hepatitis C cases in VCH are chronic. Acute hepatitis c requires active follow-up in ensuring timely diagnosis and additional education on prevention, promotion, and disease information.
